The Power of Prison Ministry
At ShekinahGO, we believe in the redemptive potential of every individual, regardless of their past. Our Prison Ministries program is dedicated to bringing hope, healing, and spiritual guidance to those behind bars. Through a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, we aim to inspire positive change and facilitate spiritual growth in the lives of incarcerated individuals.
Part of our Prison Ministries includes the distribution of faith-based testimonial books to those within prison walls, and informing them of resources that are available upon their release.
Join us in making a difference as we extend the light of Shekinah into the darkest corners, fostering a sense of purpose and renewal within the prison community.
Together, let's break the chains of despair and build a bridge to a brighter, more hopeful future for those seeking redemption and restoration.

A Prison Ministries Testimony
In the heart of Thunder Bay, a group of dedicated individuals embarked on a transformative journey within the confines of the local jail. Led by Cal Maskery, whose daughter Alisha had authored a powerful book titled "Like Father Like Son," their mission was to bring hope and solace to those behind bars, offering a glimmer of redemption through the impactful medium of prison ministry.
The group, composed of volunteers driven by a genuine desire to make a difference, was granted a miraculous opportunity to step beyond the steel gates and venture right into the cell blocks. Cal Maskery, with unwavering conviction, spearheaded the initiative, carrying with him the profound message embedded in his daughter's book.
The cell blocks, usually off-limits to outsiders, became an unforgettable experience due to a Catholic Chaplain who dared to ask if Cal could be brought in.
Cal Maskery, standing before the incarcerated men, shared the transformative power of faith, redemption, and the familial bond portrayed in "Like Father Like Son." His words resonated with the struggles and aspirations of those behind bars, creating a bridge between two worlds that seemed worlds apart.
The men, often forgotten by society, listened intently as Cal's heartfelt stories and reflections echoed through the narrow corridors. Alisha's book, a testament to resilience and the pursuit of redemption, became a guiding light for those who felt trapped within the confines of their mistakes.
A sense of camaraderie blossomed within those cells as the group engaged in genuine conversations with the incarcerated men. The prison ministry, initially met with skepticism, evolved into a catalyst for introspection and change. The power of storytelling and shared experiences bridged the gap between the volunteers and the incarcerated, proving that compassion could thrive even in the most unlikely of places.
As the group left the jail, they carried with them the indelible imprint of the lives they had touched. Little did they know that, a couple of years later, they would be granted the same extraordinary opportunity once again. In 2023, the echoes of their previous visit lingered as they returned to Thunder Bay Jail, continuing their mission to sow seeds of hope in the hardened soil of despair.
The story of prison ministry in Thunder Bay became a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of compassion. Cal Maskery, with his unwavering commitment, guided the way, and Alisha's book, "Like Father Like Son," served as a beacon of hope, leaving an enduring impact on the lives of those who had, for a moment, found solace within its pages.
