The Transformation of Jamie Bourgeois
Today, we have the inspiring story of Jamie Bourgeois.
The Transformation:
All my life I knew of Jesus but didn’t know him. I was raised Roman Catholic. My parents split at the age of 3, and I grew up moving between parents. Elementary school was good but I began to get bullied in middle school and high school. At age 15, I smoked weed for the first time. My mother was a recovered alcoholic, which changed when she met Rich. She began to drink and so did I. Because of the bullying at school, I dropped out in grade 10 for 2 years. But by the Grace of God, I went back and graduated. At the age of 19, I got my first assault charge while drinking, mixing pills and losing myself.
After graduating, I flew out west and so did my weed and alcohol addiction. Homelessness became a thing for me. After 12 years, I came back to New Brunswick, and with me, I brought back my addictions. One drink became one puff of weed became me doing meth.
I didn’t know Jesus until I went to a Hope Rally to hear Cal speak. I read his book “Like Father Like Son”. It was then that I decided to go to the Recovery Program and I never looked back.
What motivated me to share my story with others?
I first met Cal at a Hope Rally in 2021. I hit my rock bottom that year and was hospitalized. Two months later, I ended up at ShekinahGO on Lester Ave. Because of the ministry I now know of Jesus, and I developed a great relationship with Jesus.
Homelessness, addiction, feeling alone being broken, and hopelessness is no longer who I am because Jesus saved me.
I am 1 year sober.
The program at ShekinahGO has helped me get grounded in God’s word daily and I love my forever family.
